And what is Malaysian money doing in Siam, anyway?

ROCKY'S BRU
Perhaps the Proton management would like to tell us why Lotus CEO Dany Bahar's contract has been extended up to 2014? Yes, twenty fourteen!

I stopped using Proton cars after I stepped down.

CHE DET

The people at Proton are unhappy over this reputation. They feel it is wrong to think that they cannot produce high end cars. It is just that the company policy was to produce run-of-the-mill cars. The Malaysian public expect Malaysian cars to be cheap. Cheap cars just cannot have the quality and the features of the more costly imports.

The other day I test drove their latest model on the test track at Shah Alam. I can verify and assure Proton customers and Malaysians generally that this new model can match any of the Japanese or European quality cars. It was such a pleasure to drive. A foreign friend who knows cars, tested the car and says it is up to the standard of the up-market cars from Europe.

it's time to either change direction or to move to a new level

MAT CENDANA

This is the Mercedes C200, and it's more than RM200,000. But imagine the Merc star on the grille being replaced by the Lotus logo, and selling for around RM150,000 or a bit less: wouldn't you at least be attracted to consider buying it? This, I feel, is the type of cars that Lotus - through DRB-Hicom/Proton - should be making if they want to enter the international market.

now that it's done, a national burden lies squarely on the shoulders of Mohd Khamil Jami

We should learn from Malaysia Airlines. From a world-class airline that was being compared with SIA at one time, MAS has declined to a class even lower than Air Asia. Why? For years, business was conducted without proper study or even discussion with stakeholders, and things happened as if MAS was just another company and not a national airline.
(Eyes on Khamil now)

Khazanah were never interested.

BIG DOG

It is obvious that Khazanah Holdings Bhd neither have the right attitude nor plan for industry driven corporations under its stable, even though it is a national car project.

The strategic intent for the nation is more valuable than Khazanah relinquishing their investment. Proton as an industrial pride of the nation and the consideration should also be centered around which party can take the automotive manufacturer to a higher position.

Proton To Remain As National Car

MY VIEW

We could argue and criticizing government for putting Proton as national car by sacrificing people money who's ironically still buying imported cars at "exorbitant price". These are the same people who willing to enrich certain AP holders, even-though has been told about it. The analogy that I could used is, the house owner who is blaming raider for stealing his monies and belongings, but not blaming himself for letting his door wide open.
